Unlocking opportunities for research uptake

Combining practical knowledge and AI support within a single tool

Addressing the barriers for real-world use

Why so few discoveries make it beyond the lab

ARCADIA responds to a European landscape in which 95% of patents remain inactive, revealing how much promising knowledge still goes underused. Fragmented support and complex requirements often make early-stage valorisation difficult to navigate.

By combining perspectives from multiple disciplines, we work with stakeholders to shape practical routes of valorisation. To do so, we aim to develop an AI-powered Toolbox that helps users move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

Our human-centred Toolbox powered by AI

Helping you make the decisions that shape early-stage valorisation

ARCADIA’s toolbox brings together different types of guidance in one accessible system, helping you move through complex processes in a more structured, informed and confident way.

Describe and assess a result
Understand the starting point and how ready a result is for further development.
Find the right AI support
Identify which AI-enabled tools can best support the next steps.
Map key stakeholders
Recognise the people and organisations needed to move a result forward.
Address IP, ethics and compliance
Consider legal, ethical and regulatory questions early in the process.
Explore innovation and market potential
Identify possible opportunities, application areas and routes to uptake.
Build a vision and roadmap
Define a direction and plan the next steps more clearly.
Identify promising valorisation pathways
Explore financial options that can support further development.
Access practical knowledge and resources
Use templates, examples, guidance and training content when needed.

Tested with real-world innovation

Our toolbox evolves through pilots and iterative validation across sectors

The development of the toolbox involves researchers, intermediaries and innovators from different countries and contexts, including social sciences and humanities, STEM research, or AI ethics. Early use cases help define needs and priorities, while each testing cycle feeds new evidence into the next release.

This iterative approach helps ensure that the toolbox remains relevant, usable and grounded in real valorisation challenges while improving over time.
